Andrew Min
“Min” hails from Northern New Jersey, also known as the freeway between New York City and Philadelphia. Despite this harsh upbringing, he’s done fairly well in NCFCA. During India year, his novice year, he won first place speaker at the first tournament he attended, made finals at the second. Later, he and Melissa Ciandella (a product of the Ethos camps) went 6-0 and were first seed at the NCFCA Nationals in South Carolina (both also received speaker awards).
The next year, Andrew and Devin Creed partnered and won all three pre-qualifiers they attended, including one where they didn’t drop a single outround ballot (at the same tournament, Andrew won first place speaker). They also won the Massachusetts National Open, both receiving high speaker awards.
At nationals in Virginia, the team took home 7th place overall, and Andrew received third place speaker. He also spearheaded the Arete Speech & Debate research ring and ran the Region 10 Nationals prep group. Andrew loves researching: during the environment year, he cut over 8000 pieces of evidence from over 4600 sources (his AFF had 533 cards and was 191 pages).
This year (2010-2011), he’s switched to Lincoln-Douglas. He won speaks and debate at the first qualifier he attended, won speaks and made finals at the second, and went on to win the regional championship.
Min will be attending Princeton University in the fall, where he plans to major in political science or public affairs. Most importantly, he loves God, to whom he attributes all his success.
