Isaac Kim

Isaac Kim, the newest and most stylish member of the Ethos team, hails from the Northern New Jersey area.  As a current competitor in competitive forensics, Isaac has enjoyed the overall experience of debate as a way of challenging himself both intellectually and spiritually.

Isaac has assisted as a team leader in his debate club for the past two years. In addition to currently serving as team policy debate captain, Isaac also serves as the head manager of the club’s evidence ring. Since his start as a debater in 2008, Isaac has had no official debate coaching – therefore, his fundamental training has come has from valuable resources such as Ethos, the online debate community, and trial and error (e.g. running a topical counterplan his first practice tournament WITHOUT understanding parametrics).

Isaac has achieved solid success in debate, qualifying twice to both the STOA and NCFCA National Championships, as well as winning the largest policy debate qualifier in his region’s history. Other notable accomplishments include numerous policy debate speaker awards and top finishes in both speech and debate.

In addition to debate, Isaac pursues a number of other interests. Isaac currently serves as an intern in product research and development for a prestigious advertising firm in New York City. At the same time, Isaac also actively pursues music, in which he is a member of an acapella group, a local band, and a nationally-acclaimed competitive chorale.  His achievements in the music field includes acceptance to New Jersey’s all-state choir (ranked top fifteen of all NJ highschool baritones) as well as performing as a soloist at numerous music festivals.

Isaac’s passion for argumentation, communication, and music is only surpassed by his passion for Christ. He believes that debate is ultimately only worth pursuing insofar as to develop analytical and communicative skills to fulfill His Great Commission.
