Etch seeks to impart timely wisdom in bite size chunks. Etch is trying to fill a perceived need of ongoing coaching and timely analysis of the latest goings on, at non-textbook density.
It’s an ambitious project for Ethos. Get a bunch of mostly students, professors, debate coaches, and professionals (together: people) to churn out monthly content that aids in understanding annual topics, strategy, judges, techniques, and more. With stories, situational analysis, expert interviews, and thought pieces, Etch will give a monthly snapshot that helps you improve.
Grab the first issue free. Then head over to the Store if you’d like to sign up for more. Individual issues will go for $6.50 each, but you can get the whole season for $25. You can see a sneak peak of each issue as we finish it up. Check out the exposés.
How it Works
Once a month through the debate year (October – June) Ethos will publish an Etch issue.
You can subscribe for the whole year or get specific issues. The content of each issue is provided on the “previous issues” page. It’s cheaper to go for the whole year because it helps us operate off of fixed income so we can do more expert interviews and special guest articles.
Who Writes for Etch?
People like you. We’ve arranged a team of writers who have a wide range of backgrounds. Our philosophy is that wider perspectives result in more critical thinking post digestion. So you will hear from 2nd year debaters, community judges, experts, coaches, and even parents.
The most important part: You can guide Etch. We are being ambitious here but have created Etch to be useful and fill a perceived need. So if we can meet your needs better, we want to know. Your guidance can be suggestions, feedback, requests, or even submitting a problem as a candidate for “case study” where three experts weigh in on how they would approach the problem.
So check out the first issue. It’s by just a few authors because we had to motivate people to join our team. If you like what you see, consider looking for more.
