Caleb is a coach and writer at Ethos Debate. He is currently attending Union University and pursuing a double major in Economics and Political Science, with a future goal of a law degree.
As an alumni of Stoa, Caleb won multiple regional tournaments in Lincoln Douglas, had a top 10 prelim win percentage his senior year, and had a winning record in every tournament he competed at his senior year including nationals. Caleb also experienced success in Parliamentary Debate, reaching octofinals at nationals.
Throughout his last two years of Stoa, Caleb has extensive outround experience and would love to share what he has learned in those environments.
When he is not coaching, Caleb enjoys working out and playing sports. He also continues to enjoy researching and discussing current events and other topics with friends.
Coaching Philosophy
“My specialty is quality arguments. That means arguments that are logically sound but also make sense to a judge. An argument that forsakes either one of these tenants is a short sighted argument that doesn’t work long term.
Arguments have to be completely logically sound or you will get them picked apart against other quality debaters (exactly when you need them to stand up). And it doesn’t matter if your argument is technically sound if the judge doesn’t buy it. I believe the core of debate is the argument and I can help you improve your argumentation.”
