Our Ohio camp will officially have a Lincoln Douglas track. We welcome Jason Hughey to the Ethos staff as our Lincoln Douglas mentor and teacher. Thanks Jason and welcome!
Jason Hughey competed in NCFCA from 2003-2008. For his first three seasons, he competed in Team Policy debate, qualifying for nationals in 2006 with Gregory Escobar. However, despite his achievement that year, he decided to make the switch to Lincoln Douglas debate for his fourth season. During the following two years of competition in LD, he broke to outrounds at every single qualifying or championship tournament he attended. Out of those thirteen tournaments, he finished in the top three at ten of them, including a 1st place finish at the 2007 Ohio National Open, a 2nd place finish at the 2007 Region IX Regional Championship, a 1st place finish at the 2008 Virginia National Open, and a 1st place finish at the 2008 Region IX Regional Championship. Out of five Region IX tournaments in 2008, he finished 1st place speaker at four of them, including the regional championship. At the last two season’s national championships, he placed 2nd LD debater, 11th LD speaker in 2007 (with a 6-0 prelim record) and 14th LD debater, 7th LD speaker in 2008. He currently serves as Lincoln Douglas coach for the Atlantic Speech and debate club in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He’s majoring in Information Systems Technology at Regent University where he is also the president and co-founder of the Regent Undergraduate Debate Association.
