Have you ever quoted a philosopher in a debate round? Like Aristotle, Rawls, or John Locke? These people tried to make sense of the world by discussing the deep things.
Some in the sub-culture of homeschool Christian debate seem perfectly okay with quoting philosophers, but not the greatest philosopher, in our debate rounds. I know why: because it appears that anything else puts someone “against God” in a debate.
But I don’t think that’s actually true. In fact, the point of learning debate skills is precisely to teach you to navigate such difficult situations. Debate is intended to be controversial. I’d appreciate you watching this video so you can hear why you might consider encouraging debaters to look into their topics as deeply as possible.
